This year at the Golden Melody Awards, artist Jay Chou was absent, the outside world have speculated whether he didn't go on purpose, but on the 29th Jay Chou especially explained it in Beijing, he said it was because the schedule had already been set and they can't break the contract, he didn't deliberately snub the GMAs, to winning awards, Jay was very happy, he said, this is a kind of acknowledgment to him, besides promising to attend next year he also said he hoped to win the Best Lyricist Award.

The first ever Beijing Bird's Nest Summer Concert is going to be held on the 30th of June, Mainland China famed singer Song Zhu Ying, pianist Lang Lang, Italian tenor Domingo and Jay Chou will be collaborating in performing ethnic music, piano, folk songs and pop songs.

When Jay Chou attended the press conference for the Beijing Bird's Nest Concert, he explained his absence from the GMAs this year, he said, "I want to clarify this matter, before a lot of people felt I didn't participate, it was because I had already signed a contract beforehand, I had to perform somewhere else, we can't break contracts."

Towards finally winning the award after being in the industry of 10 years, Jay Chou said over excitedly, "I'd really like to thank the judges this time for their acknowledgement, it's actually going to be 10 years soon, I've been nominated before but didn't win. I think I'm already very lucky, to win this award at 30 years old."

The topic changed and Jay Chou said he hoped to win the Best Lyricist next time, "Now I'm only missing Best Lyricist, I think I don't need to win Best Lyricist, because Vincent is me and I'm Vincent, I don't think I have high hopes for Best Lyricist, but winning it won't be bad." Towards the news that they are announcing the ceremony date of the GMAs next year early, Jay Chou was a bit embarrassed and said that he is promising to definitely participate next year.
