Translator: Ho ( http://www.jaychoustudio.com) Source: NOWnewsJay Chou's music is invincible, he's even known as "the golden boy of music". But stepping outside the music circle, this name of Jay Chou's seems to lose its touch, the movie "The Treasure Hunter" starring him and Lin Chi Ling has been voted as the worst movie in 2009 by PTT users, the TV series he directed "Pandamen" was shown on Mainland China Guangzhou TV, the ratings set a record low, this has thrown Jay Chou's calculations completely off! According to reports, Jay Chou's TV series "Pandamen" was shown on Mainland China Guangzhou TV for 3 days, on the 27th the ratings were announced, the ratings on the 3rd day were only 0.06, equivalent to just 5000 viewers, it has set a record low. Due to the fact the series got a lot of guest stars, plus it has Jay Chou's name stamped on it, it made Guangzhou TV buy into it heavily, who could have thought the ratings would be so bad, a lot of people have been surprised. To the record low ratings, Guangzhou TV thinks there are two main reasons, one is the retarded plot, two is there are too many commercial placements. Also, last year in October, Guangzhou TV spent 18 million to acquire the rights to "Pandamen", originally they thought they could get Jay Chou to help promote it, unfortunately Jay Chou wasn't willing. According to reports, Jay Chou's schedule is hard to work with, he only has time to come back to Taiwan for promotion in March, by then the series is already half way through, promotion will be too late then. But, CTS are still confident in "Pandamen", they think the series has been limited by Mainland China's TV restrictions, the important gun fight scene was cut leaving audiences confused, but the one shown in Taiwan will be uncut, the series is exciting and won't disappoint viewers.

Honestly, I'm not that surprised by this article too much.. I'm surprised the numbers are that low though. I knew eventually this was coming for Jay... Lately, it's been more about quantity with Jay then quality.. His last few albums were a telling sign to begin with.. Ever since he started his acting/directing gig, his music has suffered.. He's just trying to do way too much right now.. He has no time to really work on any one project and it's showing.. This pandamen is proof that he needs to spend more time on his projects or take on less.. The show just tries to sell itself on Jay's name and the guest stars.. It's a horrible show honestly.. The Jay of 5 years ago would of never allowed his name to be stamped on something like this..
In my opinion, Jay needs to go back to the music and really put out an album that he's personally spent a lot a time on.. I want to be blown away by an album like I did with Fantasy or any of his earlier stuff.. I'm glad he wants to persue this acting thing, but we all know his strength lies in his music.. Hopefully this will serve as a wakeup call for him..

that's what i have in mind when i read this news. i guess i have lost the man that in my opinion is full with passion when it comes to music...sorry, i know that some of you might think that it's a bit harsh but yeah i miss my fave old Jay. i know changes should be made but not this kind of change that i want from Jay.... i don't mind waiting for 10 years to listen to his new album rather than listen to it each year but full of crap!!!! still supporting Jay Chou, tough.

QFT, he needs to get back to basics and take time to produce an album instead of rushing it between movies. the quality really shows when he takes a year to do an album instead of 2 months.

Well, maybe you should stop supporting him for a while. that's part of the problem. You say his newer albums are full of crap, yet you continue to support him. Jay probably knows about the fans like u, who will be disappointed, but continue to give him money, so it makes him comfortable with what he's doing. If people stopped buying his albums then he would realize he needs to make a change or else he's screwed.

at jfc, i like the point u mentioned :)
but i agree- i'm a lil fed up with the fact that we all have to wait for his new album , then it gets delayed and so, in teh end, all u get is a really crappy album -_____- so yes i agree with jfc he should focus more on music, given teh fact that music is his forte (strong point)

i think that this news is not that surprising.. the film genre is not that interesting to the viewers, that if i may assume, are generally women. somehow they/we prefer romantic comedy no matter how stupid and annoying and repetitive and unoriginal the plots are. and it was even said that the plot was retarded. gosh, Jay, you better pray that this is your lowest point. please crawl back to your throne through GOOD music. please. please......
@jaychoufanatic: i haven't watched treasure hunter. somehow i felt that if i watched that movie, it would just fuel my anger to Jay.. and perhaps it was a good call from what i read from adahjay's reactions.. ^^
