I remember listening to his entire discography and only enjoying the ballads. However i don't really remember the names of the songs so i want to listen to them again.I know that his other songs are good too but you've got to admit everyone that got into Jay's music was through one of his ballads.

Is there a list of all his MV's?His youtube channel is missing some songs like the hidden tracks ones and is difficult to sift through all the Non-mv videos.

That's not true. When I started becoming a fan, it was through his fast songs from the Qi Li Xiang album, My Territory, Maternal Grandmother, Checkmate, Chaotic Dance of Spring and Autumn( my favorite in that album), and Casualties of War. I found his fast songs to be filled with creativity and imagination. The kind of songs that take you to a fantasy world in your mind. I found his ballads to be boring at first and I always skipped them to hear the fast songs. But gradually over time I started to like both. Though I got really disappointed in him when he started to have more slow songs than fast. Starting with Still Fantasy. My favorite era of Jay's music was from Ye Hui Mei to November's Chopin. I consider Ye Hui Mei, Qi Li Xiang, and November's Chopin to be his best 3 albums.

For me i got into his music after watching Initial D and listening to the credits song that sounded like it was indie rock which was interesting because i've never heard that style of music from mandarin artists before.I for one am chinese and do understand most of what he's saying when he sings so maybe that's why his ballads are immediate and do hit my feels spot when i first listen to them. His fast songs are kind of catchy but not really the kind of music i want to listen to when i turn on mandarin music.

I find that the ballads give a certain vibe i just couldn't get from any western artists. On the other hand the other style of songs are done better by western artists.

I think Jay's fast songs are better than what any western artist does. He has elements in his music that western artists don't use. He adds classical music, which western artists don't really use(at least it's rare). He should actually be composing music for american artists. It would make their music better since western music is shit right now.

True. He's truly deserving of being king of mandopop.Hopefully the songs and MVs from the upcoming album will be better.

Hi newjay!

You're missing:

Tornado from Jay Album

Shanghai 1943 from Fantasy

Fragrance of Rice from Capricorn

Superman can't Fly from The Era
Rains All Night also from The Era

Red Dust Inn from OPUS 12

I super love his ballads too.
But I agree with jaychoufanatic as well.

When I first listened to him back in 2011 (yes, I'm a relatively 'new' fan), his music hit me like a tornado....literally.
It was so unlike what I had imagined Mandopop to be.
But he is still the only Mandopop artiste I'm nuts about.
The others cannot compare.

I agree. I don't even really consider Tornado a ballad. It's r&b.

@ kuso and jaychoufanatic:

Well, newjay said he didn't mind if there was R&B or rapping...so there.

But I disagree with jaychoufanatic about Tornado.
It is most definitely a ballad.

Just trivial discussions, but another definition I found, google, has this: 2. a slow sentimental or romantic song.

I reckon ballads have to be slow, especially Jay's love ballads..if we add rap & r&b then its pretty much most of jay's songs ?

I think simple love should be up on the list too.
