Reccomendations for other great Mando/Canto Pop albums
« on: July 26, 2014, 12:44:06 am »
I have tried a lot of other artists on youtube and what not.of most of us here fav are still Jay but there is nothing wrong with listening to other singers.

Any recommendations for other great Chinese(Mandarin/Cantonese) albums.Preferably at least 2007 and before(80's/90's also fine) as i not keen to check out the latest trendy artists.

My other favourites are and they all started around 2000's like Jay..Show Luo, Rainie Yang, Ding Dang, Alin Huang, Genie Zhuo but most of them are ballads-pop.

You should also like Wilber Pan as he's probably most similar to Jay's style, especially older albums.

Maybe try listening to this a quick overview of his songs and see if its for you before seeking out the albums.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weWjadIy01M&list=UUBhSDruXx9Vk10-PdTnD-Ew

A few of suggestions:

JJ Lin (first 3 albums)
David Tao (first 2 albums)
Anson Hu (first album)

For older artists:

Jacky Cheung (anything in the 90s)
Emil Chau

And lastly, probably out of your range, think she's 2008:

G.E.M.

I tried some of the artists, not bad for watch their MV or sing K and all but I'm more of an album kind of guy,the other singers don't have the variety or consistency as Jay for good songs through the full album.

I'm now listening to Faye Wong discography so far the early albums are not too good as they have the bad 80's sound to them,i expect the mid 90's onwards albums to be better.
